Soudal Quick-Step’s Basque climber proved that romantic cycling isn’t dead, taking an enormous victory on the penultimate day of the race following a sumptuous performance in the mountains of Sierra Nevada.

After a frustrating season, where he had to battle against injuries and illness, the 36-year-old Mikel proved that age is just a number and cycling isn’t just about watts and power as he fought and suffered on his way to producing one of the most emotional moments of this race and creating sporting history for The Wolfpack.
