Sixth victory of the season for Soudal Quick-Step Devo.
Henrique Bravo got off to a flying start in Austria, at the 17th edition of Oberösterreich Rundfahrt. The 20-year old, making his first appearance with the squad in six weeks, rode a perfect race Thursday evening and scored his third win of the season, after the ones he took at the Tour of Antalya, in March.
The opening stage was just 4.3 kilometers in length and Henrique attacked boldly and decisively on the steepest part of the climb. Bravo arrived at the finish five seconds clear from the next rider, and wrote history for his country at the end of a day which saw two other Soudal Quick-Step Devo riders - Federico Savino and Viktor Soenens - conclude in the top ten.
I knew that the stage suited me, despite being short and fast, and I’m glad I could bring it home.
“I pushed hard on the climb and it’s nice now to be the first Brazilian to wear the yellow jersey at this race. We have a good team here and we’ll do our best to defend the jersey and also see if we can get other good results”, said Henrique, who also leads the points and KOM classifications after the opening day.
