The 22-year-old racked up his second podium in three days at the Deutschland Tour.
Paul Magnier delivered another strong top three finish, after the one in the prologue, this time in Offenbach an der Queich, where the third day of the race concluded.
It was another long and wet stage in the saddle, on a 197km parcours which had just a few difficulties in the beginning, but nothing that could stop the sprinters’ teams from controlling the stage and reeling in the escapees. The catch was made more than 20 kilometers from the line, giving the lead-out trains plenty of time to organize themselves before the long finishing straight.
Laurenz Rex, in his first stage race since this spring’s Tirreno-Adriatico, launched Paul, who opened his effort with 200 meters to go and came close to victory, being pipped on the line by Alessio Magagnotti (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe). In the overall classification, young Italian Andrea Raccagni continues to be our team’s best placed rider in fifth, just 12 seconds from the podium.
