The 18-year-old powered to his maiden victory of the season at the National Championships held in Raszag, a small town in the north of the country.
One of our junior team’s most consistent riders of the season, with overall podiums at the Guido Reybrouck Classic and Vuelta al Besaya, Maks entered the race as one of the favorites and ended up producing a great performance to capture his first national title.
Eight last year in the same event, the Pole made a huge improvement this season, finishing at the top after averaging close to 48km/h. Clocked in 33:22, Matyasik was more than half a minute faster than the next rider - a comfortable success for our versatile rider.
“It feels great to win at the Nationals. It’s also my first victory of the season and I’m proud of the race I did. I paced myself smartly from the beginning and could maintain the power until the end on this 27km course. I’m happy to be on the top step of the podium and add to the team’s 2026 tally of wins”, said Maks, one of the two Soudal Quick-Step U19 riders to take the ITT National Title alongside Marwan Barhoumi; the 18-year-old, racing for the first time in almost one month, won the gold for three seconds in Switzerland.
