Rex’s Rehab

  • Riders

Laurenz Rex has endured a testing start to his career with Soudal Quick-Step.

A crash in his debut race, in Saudi Arabia, meant Larenz suffered three broken processus spinosus in his back. Miraculously he showed his grit and determination to return to racing just five weeks later at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, where he took a top 10 place, followed quickly by second at Le Samyn, two days later.

A good showing at Tirreno-Adriatico seemed to point at a strong spring for Rex, but bad luck was about to strike again, with a crash during In Flanders Fields, in late March, causing him to suffer a dislocated knee, as well as bone and ligament damage.

One month later and with Laurenz on the mend, we caught up with him during a rehabilitation session. Again showing his amazing resilience and determination, he tells us how he’s determined to come back stronger than ever, and how he is working towards his new goals later in the season.
