The Dutchman signed off Soudal Quick-Step’s 33rd podium of the season.
Dylan van Baarle came into this year’s individual time trial race at the National Championships with the clear goal of fighting for a medal, and the 33-year-old didn’t disappoint, finishing a solid runner-up in Laren, the small town where the event took place.
The 35.8km course was completely flat, suiting the specialists of the discipline, and Dylan - who rode just his second time trial of the season, after the one in Algarve four months ago - produced a strong effort Wednesday evening. The Dutchman averaged an impressive 52.36km/h and stopped the clock in 41 minutes to take his fourth medal in nine years.
The National Championships will continue for Dylan on Sunday, when together with Soudal Quick-Step teammates Pascal Eenkhoorn and Pepijn Reinderink, will be at the start of the 192km road race.
