Our Devo team’s final outing of the month will come in France.
The parcours consists of five stages and features almost 12 000 vertical meters, making it a perfect race for the climbers and the punchers, who’ll get plenty of opportunities to shine. The hardest and most important day of this 31st edition - running between 27-31 May - will be the last one; up and down from kilometer zero and taking in numerous climbs before an uphill finish in Miribel-les-Échelles, it’s where the general classification will be decided.
Winner of the KOM jersey at the Tour of Antalya, where he finished a strong second overall behind teammate Henrique Bravo, Said Cisneros will be one of the team’s leaders for the general classification. Matthijs De Clercq, Hodei Muñoz, one of this year’s most consistent riders with a string of top ten results to his name, Luc Royer, Paris-Roubaix top five finisher Joeri Schaper, and Marc Zafra round out our squad for this week’s race.
“Alpes Isère Tour is a nice and important stage race in the U23 category. The first four days will be hilly, while the last one will be the most demanding, and at the same time, decisive for the general classification. Said and Matthijs can fight for the overall standings, Hodei will aim for good results in the first four stages, but we can also go in breakaways and try something there. We are confident and motivated, and can’t wait to get things started”, explained sports director Eliot Lietaer.
