Tim Merlier is ready to lead the team at the German race taking place on Saturday.
Held each year - with the exception of 2020 - since it was created two decades ago, the Münsterland Giro celebrates its 20th edition on the first weekend of October, when Soudal Quick-Step will be one of the twelve World Tour teams at the start.
Despite the presence of a few short climbs, the race should once again come down to a bunch sprint, and our squad - victorious here on three occasions with as many different riders - will do their best to bring Tim Merlier in a position from where he can fight for another victory. The 33-year-old Belgian - who sits on 12 wins since the start of the season - will be supported in Germany by Grand Prix Cerami victor Cériel Desal, former Belgian Champion Yves Lampaert, Casper Pedersen, Laurenz Rex, Bert Van Lerberghe, and Warre Vangheluwe.
“Münsterland Giro is traditionally a sprinters’ race, despite a few editions that were won after a late attack. With Tim Merlier in our ranks, the goal for this strong team we’re taking there is clear: place him in the best position so he can show his speed. He is in a good shape - as displayed in Koolskamp and Lichtervelde in the past weeks - and is motivated to show this again on Saturday”, said sports director Niki Terpstra.
