Soudal Quick-Step to Zwevezele Koers

  • Race preview

A fast and hectic race awaits just before the start of the weekend.

The kermesse week continues for our team this Friday, when six riders will line out at the start of Zwevezele Koers, a race held over a flat course where the peloton should easily reach speeds of more than 48km/h.  The attacks are sure to come from the beginning, especially as in the past years the winner has come after a group managed to jump away in the first laps of the day.

Consisting of 16 laps of a 9.6km circuit, Zwevezele Koers will see Soudal Quick-Step come to the start with Ayco Bastiaens, Izegem Koers victor Gil Gelders, Yves Lampaert, Bert Van Lerberghe, Stan Van Tricht - the winner of this year’s Kemmel Koers - and Warre Vangheluwe.

“It will be full gas from the beginning and difficult to control. In this kind of race you need to stay attentive the entire time, because a lot of things can happen. You need the engine to make it, but also positioning plays a role, because you need to be in the right place when the attacks come. We have a strong team, with several cards to play, and we aim for a good result”, said sports director Sep Vanmarcke.
