The 17th edition finished with another battle between the climbers.
The Czech Tour came to a conclusion Sunday afternoon, when the race arrived at the top of the Pustevny climb. It was the shortest of this edition’s uphill finishes, but the hardest in terms of gradients, which gradually whittled down the peloton, leaving only a dozen or so riders in contention by the time the breakaway got caught.
The battle for the stage victory was again a two-man affair, and this time, the one who finished first was Alessandro Fancellu (MBH Bank), who outsprinted the yellow jersey.
Mauri Vansevenant, who competed in a stage race for the first time since June’s Tour Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes, finished both the stage and the general classification as Soudal Quick-Step’s best-placed rider. In terms of end, only six seconds separated the 27-year-old Belgian from what would have been his second top ten overall result of the season, after the one he scored at the AlUla Tour.
