The Brit has close to 500 kilometers at the front of the Spanish Grand Tour.
Ethan Hayter is one of the most combative riders of this edition, which he has showcased again Sunday afternoon by going in his fourth breakaway. The extreme temperatures forced the organizers to reduce to just 79 kilometers the stage to Cordoba - the stunning city which at its height was home to the world’s largest library, consisting of 400 000 books - but couldn’t stop the 27-year-old Brit from going again on the attack.
The British ITT Champion stayed there for almost 60 kilometers, before being caught by a group that then went on to fight for the stage in the Andalusian city where Wout Van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) prevailed.
“It was really nice to be in the breakaway again. We went right after the start and built a good gap, but the chasers rode really fast and they eventually caught us. The heat didn’t help too, but the feeling was good, which is encouraging ahead of next week’s stage against the clock. I’m looking forward to it and I hope to get another good result for the team”, Ethan said after arriving home.
