The Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team, worked at the front of the peloton to reel in breaks, countered when breaks were caught, and made a move for the stage win within the final couple of kilometers at the 201.6km first stage of KBC-Driedaagse De Panne -Koksijde on Tuesday.

Sylvain Chavanel and Niki Terpstra were the most active riders for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team. Chavanel attempted to escape with 2kms to go, but the peloton stuck to his wheel to preserve the field sprint. Peter Sagan (Liquigas) beat Jacopo Guarnieri (Astana Pro Team) by a bike throw, and Fabio Sabatini (Liquigas-Cannondale) was 3rd. Chavanel was the team's top finisher, in 23rd place.

Terpstra and Chavanel were constant presences at the front of the peloton in the final 30km, as well as chase groups. They made a small group of 5-8 riders, including Sagan, with 20km to go. However, that group was eventually caught with a little more than 10km remaining. Guillaume Van Keirsbulck also helped the peloton chase down breaks on Tuesday.
