Tour de Suisse concludes in Villars-sur-Ollon

Soudal Quick-Step leaves the Tour de Suisse as one of the few teams to have won a stage here. Yves Lampaert was the man responsible for this success, after the Belgian beat all the favourites on the short opening individual time trial to claim the Wolfpack’s 16th stage victory at the race.

Thanks to that success, Yves got to enjoy a two-day spell in the yellow jersey, which he was then forced to concede as soon as the peloton entered the mountains. The many summit finishes of this edition made for some quite significant gaps between the riders going for a good result in the general classification, which in the end was sealed by Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) after the stage 8 uphill ITT in Villars-sur-Ollon.

In the same overall ranking, William Junior Lecerf concluded as the best placed Soudal Quick-Step rider. The 21-year-old Belgian, who made his third appearance of the season in a World Tour stage race, came close to finishing in the top 20 at what has been, without a doubt, one of the hardest events of the season so far.
