Biography of Julie
“In 2017, I was on the Oude Kwaremont – where my father grew and my grandparents still live – when Philippe Gilbert made his solo move in De Ronde. Strangely, there was no one around me at that moment and I was encouraging Phil – who later told me he heard as I was shouting his name – and he went on to take the win in astonishing fashion. That qualifies as the best memory since joining the team, back in July 2015”, says the always-smiling Julie, our Logistics responsible.
Hailing from Gent, a city that is inextricably linked with the world of cycling, Julie is the one in charge of our hotel and flight bookings during the season, and believe us, what she does is no easy feat at all. Each year, she books hundreds of hotels for the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl riders and staff (not counting the ones of which the race organisers take care) and thousands of flights, from Europe to Asia, Australia and the Americas.
In her free time, Julie loves to travel and discover new countries, places and cultures, ride her bike and go skiing in the wintertime. Her favourite race? “I just love Strade Bianche, and for a couple of reasons. It’s a race that surprises every year because of the weather conditions, which turn it into a different race every time. To win there, you need a wide range of skills and to be a real champion. Also, the finish in Siena is, in my opinion, the most beautiful and stunning of a race. Last, but not least, as a fan there’s no way you can’t fall in love with the charming and breathtaking scenery of Tuscany.”
