The team’s Technical & Development Manager talked about our most recent project.
“We launched the Wolfpack Bike Clinic at the beginning of July with the primary goal of spotting one or more talented mechanics with the appropriate skill set, dedication and team spirit. We had a total of 125 applicants, out of whom we selected twelve persons from five different countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy and the Netherlands. All of them were open to learning and really enthusiastic about the cycling world, which made us happy and confident as we went ahead.
This idea that we had received a strong backing from our technical sponsors, who were also excited about this. Soudal Quick-Step and AG Insurance are part of a complex organisation, comprising very good riders and staff, so we tried to see if we can welcome some new members, at some point in the future, through the Bike Clinic.
We held the event a couple of weeks ago at Shimano’s excellent facilities in Mechelen, and we are grateful to them for their fantastic support and involvement. It was a busy day for the twelve candidates, who had to showcase their technical skills through a series of tests. We prepared five working stations where they had to solve all kinds of problems, from wrapping the handlebar tape to disc brake issues. Basically, daily stuff in the life of a mechanic.
It was great to see their commitment and passion, the fact they took all this seriously and tried to show their skills under pressure, in different circumstances. I would also like to underline the amazing support we received from our technical sponsors: Shimano, Specialized, Garmin, Unior Tools, Morgan Blue, Tacx, K-Edge, Ceramic Speed and Feedback Sports, and we want to thank them for this. Overall, it was a success, and soon we’ll announce the winner of the event.”
