Best Moments of 2024: Magnier unstoppable in Britain
The Frenchman showed his class and potential in September, in what was his last outing of the season.
“I came at the start of the Tour of Britain after finishing runner-up in Plouay. That was a result that surprised me, I wasn’t expecting to make it over all those hills there and still have enough left to put in a good sprint to be on the podium. The shape that I carried into the Tour of Britain and the fact I could rely on an incredible lead-out consisting of Julian and Remco made me very confident in my chances.
Having two immense champions by my side on the first day that ended up in a bunch sprint was incredible and it made me proud I could repay all their hard work with the win on that tricky finish that featured cobblestones. Two days later, the guys controlled the race again, this time in the headwind, and delivered me in a perfect position from where I just couldn’t miss.
Making it three victories on stage 6 of the Tour of Britain left me speechless. I remember that day because we had to work hard in order to bring back the breakaway, but the guys left everything out there and did a phenomenal job to bring back the escapees, before Julian helped me come to the front. From there, I did another strong sprint and took a win that made our week truly unforgettable.
Being part of Soudal Quick-Step motivates me every single day I pull on this jersey, because you feel that Wolfpack spirit all the time and the desire to work as hard as possible and bring your contribution to the team’s incredible palmares. I hope this will be the case on a personal level also in my second season with the squad.”
