Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team has announced the selection that will take part in 204.2km Scheldeprijs on Wednesday, April 3rd.
Mark Cavendish — who has won the race three times already — will lead the team. Cavendish is currently tied with Piet Oellibrandt for the record of career wins at the race. In a flat parcour usually for the sprinters, Cavendish could possibly fight for the victory against competitors such as Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol), Arnaud Demare (FDJ), Marcel Kittel (Argos-Shimano), Gerald Ciolek (Team MTN Qhubeka), and others.
"Mark can beat the record of victories tomorrow and the team will help him out try to do this," Wilfried Peeters said. "We have an experienced team for these kind of races and a few fresh riders for the leadout of Mark. It will not be so easy with the competitors at the race, but Mark has shown he is in good condition and can win with many different sprint situations in the final."
