Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team riders Michal Golas and Serge Pauwels stayed near the front of a select group for the final kilometers of 147km Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey Stage 4 on Wednesday. As breaks continued to try and get away, and the front of the peloton set a high enough tempo to string out the peloton, separation occurred with about 7km to go. Frantisek Rabon of OPQS had helped set the pace high earlier when he got into a brief escape group.
With 3km to go, 40 riders remained in the select group including Golas and Pauwels, but also a sprinter such as Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol). Pauwels helped put Golas in good position for the elite group sprint, but Greipel's power went unmatched as he went on to win the stage. Nikias Arndt (Team Argos-Shimano) was 2nd, Morno Hofland (Blanco Pro Cycling Team) was 3rd, Golas took 5th and Pauwels 10th after a good effort to stay near the front going into the final.
