Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Serge Pauwels was led to the Category 1 summit finish in Selcuk, in the final of 177km Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey Stage 6, by several of his teammates. Matteo Trentin, Andy Fenn, and Iljo Keisse did their best at the front of the peloton to keep the tempo high, potentially form a select group, and keep Pauwels near the front in the final kilometers.
Mustafa Sayar (Torku Sekerspor), a Turkish rider, decided to go for the stage victory and the race lead one one of the two stages of Tour of Turkey that could have decided the GC. His gamble paid off on the final climb, as he won and took the leader's jersey from Natnael Berhane (Team Europcar)
Yoann Bagot (Cofidis, Solutions Credits) was 2nd and Nicolas Edet (Cofidis, Solitions Credits) 3rd. Pauwels arrived at the line 30" down with two other riders, with the select group completely splintered on the climb.
