Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team led the charge in the lone stage of the Tour de Suisse that favored a bunch sprint — 161km Stage 4 — on Tuesday, as a three rider breakaway that escaped just a few kilometers into the stage was down to a solo Jens Voigt (Radioshack-Leopard) with 5km remaining.

OPQS put all riders on the front to protect Tom Boonen, while other teams moved up in the final in hopes of contesting a likely bunch sprint. Voigt was caught with about 2km to go, and Orica-GreenEDGE, Sky ProCycling, Saxo-Tinkoff, FDJ, as well as other teams were aggressively battling for position before a left turn at about 200m to go.

It was Arnaud Demare (FDJ) and Matthew Goss (Orica-GreenEDGE) who were able to get to the front going into the bend, and those two had enough of a gap due to their positioning in the turn to decide the stage.

Demare won the stage in a bike throw, with Goss 2nd and Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp) 3rd.

OPQS looks next to a 176.4km stage on Wednesday.
