Omega Pharma – Quick Step Cycling Team rider Dries Devenyns attacked on the final climb during the first stage of the Tour of Austria.
The stage was animated by a group of 4 riders. They were caught before the final climb of hors category. On that climb several riders dropped from the peloton quickly. After some unsuccessful attacks Dries Devenyns had more luck with his attack. He opened up a gap and was accompanied by a group with Kevin Seeldraeyers at 5 km from the finish. Seeldraeyers attacked from the first group in the final kilometre and took the stage win. Devenyns ended 4th.
