Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team riders Pieter Serry and Dries Devenyns took advantage of a highly active final kilometers of 168.5km Tour de Wallonie Stage 3 on Monday. Attack after attack led to the peloton shelling many riders off the back, but Serry, Devenyns, Kristof Vandewalle, and Frantisek Rabon made the move. Serry went on the attack with less than 20km to go, and Devenyns countered when he and a BMC Racing Team rider were caught with 3.1km left to go in the stage.
Devenyns remained solo until just a few hundred meters to go, and a chaotic bunch sprint decided the stage. Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing Team) won by about a wheel's length over Tom Van Asbroeck (Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise) and Jean-Pierre Drucker (Accent Jobs-Wanty). Rabon was the top OPQS finisher, in 17th place.
OPQS looks next to a 197.1km Stage on Tuesday.
