Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team riders Pieter Serry and Sylvain Chavanel finished in the top 10 of 232km Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian on Saturday.

Chavanel managed to bridge with one other rider to a lead group with 19.3km to go, forming a 10 rider breakaway of elite riders — including several that were protagonists in the Tour de France less than a week ago. Serry was in a chase group just behind. Tony Gallopin (Radioshack-Leopard) attacked the lead group with a little more than 10km to go and went on to win the stage solo. A five rider chase group, excluding OPQS riders, formed behind Gallopin to decide the podium. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) was 2nd, and Roman Kreuziger (Saxo-Tinkoff) was 3rd.

Serry's group caught the remaining riders of the former breakaway, including Chavanel, in the final kilometers. Serry finished 8th out of the second chase group, and Chavanel 10th.
