Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Zdenek Stybar was the top finisher in the 192km Tour de Pologne Stage 6 on Friday. Stybar was 27th on such a brutal course — with 10 tough climbs that made the profile look like a buzz saw — the peloton was down to just a handful of riders by the end of the stage. Meanwhile, Kevin De Weert and Michal Golas battled in a breakaway until the final kilometers.
Golas was able to remain in the break until less than 15km remained. John Darwin Atapuma (Colombian Cycling Team) attacked, and was able to stay away for the remainder of the stage after dropping a rider that went with him in the final kilometers. Hower, Christophe Riblon (Ag2R - La Mondiale) bridged to Atapuma knowing he had a chance to take over the GC lead. Atapuma stayed on the wheel of Riblon until the final meters and launched his sprint to win the stage. Riblon also took over the race lead.
OPQS looks next to a final 37km Stage 7 time trial on Saturday.
