The third stage of the Dubai Tour didn't finish in a bunch sprint due to a peloton split in the final 10 kilometers, with 3 climbs. Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Tony Martin attacked, and Wout Poels also followed the move.
An early breakaway animated a big part of the stage. With less than 10 kilometers to go the last rider was caught. New attacks came quickly after that. OPQS rider Martin also tried his luck. He got Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) in his wheel and some moments later other riders also bridged the gap.
Despite several attacks a sprint with a select group brought the decision. Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) took his second stage win in front of Juan José Lobato (Movistar) and Peter Sagan (Cannondale). Wout Poels sprinted to a 6th place and was the best OPQS rider.
Taylor Phinney (BMC) stays in the lead of the general classification, while OPQS rider Martin is still following in 4th place, 23" back.
