Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Rigoberto Uran finished 33rd in the 219km Stage 2 of Giro d'Italia on Saturday.
The last rider out of the original four-rider breakaway was caught with 3.5km to go, but the rainy stage left the final kilometers in a bit of chaos due to some nervous racing in slick conditions.
Teams still battled hard for sprint position, and it was Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) who took the victory in the group arrival. Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ.fr) was 2nd, and Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek Factory Racing) was 3rd.
Uran finished 33rd. He is also 7th in the GC, 8" back. Gianluca Brambilla, Pieter Serry, and Alessandro Petacchi are also 8th, 9th, and 10th overall.
OPQS looks next to another possible sprint stage, 187km Stage 3 from Armagh to Dublin, on Sunday.
