OPQS fought until the end to defend their top four general classification positions at Tour de l'Ain on Friday. The 142.3km Stage 3 of Tour de l'Ain was a mountain stage with five categorized climbs, but also had an uphill prior to the finish that was not categorized. As a result of the challenging parcours, the peloton was split into groups that finished minutes apart.

Julian Alaphilippe of OPQS finished in the top 10 of the difficult stage, 3'23" back from solo stage winner Bertjan Lindeman (Rabobank Development Team). Romain Bardet (AG2R - La Mondiale) was 2nd, and Daniel Martin (Garmin-Sharp) was 3rd.

Rigoberto Uran also finished 22nd.Alaphilippe is now the top OPQS rider in the GC, in 6th place (+3'14").

OPQS looks next to 134.8km Stage 4.
