Unfortunately, a poorly timed headwind hurt Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team on Wednesday at the 16.9km stage 1 team time trial from San Vincenzo to Donoratico.
"The wind changed after 3:30 p.m.," Sport Director Davide Bramati said. "The last 10 teams had headwind in the long final part to the finish. That's partially why they lost time."
The top three teams on Wednesday were GreenEdge (18'41"), Radioshack-Nissan-Trek (+17") and Garmin-Barracuda (same time).
The wind certainly was a challenge for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team, and contributed to a 14th place finish for the team with a time of 19'32".
The team, will certainly look to rebound strong for Stage 2 —a 230km course from San Vincenzo to Indicatore.
