The new website for Omega Pharma – Quick-Step Cycling Team was launched today, during the team’s official presentation in Vilvoorde (Belgium).
With rich content and news about the team’s athletes and activities, the site stands out for its straightforward, elegant graphics, keeping in line with the team’s new image and identity and keeping up with the new trends in online communication.
Giving our fans a voice
The team’s new internet site has been especially studied to become a point of reference for our team’s fans. “An objective for our team in the near future is to give more value to fans of the team and cycling supporters in general,” explains team manager Patrick Lefevere. “Fans are important stakeholders for the entire movement, this is why we’ve decided to create a website structured around their needs. We want to give fans a say, and with their help we hope to improve the quality of our services by taking them to the next level.”
Intuitive and easy to navigate, the internet site will allow fans to interact among each other and the team through a series of instruments designed for this purpose, like the “Wall” or the “Fanbase” section, where users can share multimedia content like photos, videos and music, find out about exclusive behind-the-scenes stories and participate in prize drawings and online contests.
Social Media: A world in progress
Team communications will also be available on the team’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Live updates and exclusive content are elements that contribute to a continually growing fan base, thanks also in part to the valuable contributions of the team’s own riders, who are some of the group’s most active social media users.
Fans can follow the team and their athletes on Facebook and Twitter. Fan tweets will also be visible on line on their exclusively dedicated fan page. “Every post, every tweet, every photo posted online generates a series of comments among our fans, promoting discussions in which the team can actively participate. It is truly a unique, global means to communicate directly with our fans. Social media is a World in Progress that knows no limits” Patrick Lefevere says.
Team Apps!
For those who enjoy 24/7 communication, the team has also developed applications for mobile devices that allow fans to receive continuous updates with the latest team news, anytime, anywhere! The new Photo Booth application available from today is only the first of a series of new team-specific apps available soon.
