The Belgian Champion will return to action this week-end.

The first rider in decades to win a cobbled classic and an Ardennes one in the same season, Philippe Gilbert has received good news from the doctors, who gave him green light to start training again. The Ronde van Vlaanderen and Amstel Gold Race champion has been forced to miss Flèche Wallonne and Liège–Bastogne–Liège due to a kidney tear, and today he returned to training, on the home rollers.

Quick-Step Floors' rider will make his first appearance in two weeks this Saturday, at Zilvermeer, which plays host to the "Tom says Thanks" event, where Tom Boonen will race in front of his fans, together with Philippe, Marcel Kittel, Peter Sagan, Michal Kwiatkowski, and many other big names of the peloton. Then, one day later, the Belgian Champion will line up at the start of the race he organizes, the "Philippe Gilbert Classic", in the Belgian municipality of Aywaille.

An update on Philippe Gilbert's new racing schedule will be made in the following days.
