Jungels takes silver at ITT Nationals

The 24-year-old finished on the podium for the fifth consecutive season.

Schengen, the small town in the south-east of Luxembourg, known for the Schengen Agreement signed there in 1985, welcomed the National Championships this year, which commenced Wednesday with the individual time trial.

Defending champion Bob Jungels was the last rider to set off on the flat 18.7km-long parcours and he put in a good ride, at the end of which he came home only six seconds slower than Jean-Pierre Drucker (BMC), who took first place.

Quick-Step Floors' rider – who concluded in the top 3 at the National ITT Championships for the fifth time in as many years – will now look to Sunday's road race, which should favour the attackers, who'll face eight laps of a circuit that has two short climbs with average gradients ranging from 3.7% to 5.6% jammed in its 19 kilometers.
