A very reliable and experienced rider, the Belgian has penned a two-year deal with our team.
Having rejoined the squad ahead of this season, Dries Devenyns was quintessential in many of Quick-Step Floors' exploits on the road in 2017, but at the same time proved he still has what it takes to be there at the front and in the mix – his results in Brabantse Pijl, National Championships, Grand Prix Cerami or Giro d'Italia, where he became the first Belgian to conquer the brutal Monte Grappa – speaking for themselves.
Most recently, Dries completed the EuroEyes Classics Hamburg, his first race since inking a new deal with Quick-Step Floors, that will stretch to 2019: "I am really happy with being with the team again. I was riding with these guys for five years before I had a little detour for three years away from the team, but I feel I belong here, it really is my second home. We have had so many nice victories and been winning a lot this season, and for me that makes the difference. I am a winner and I love to be a part of this winning team!"
Devenyns, who's an esteemed 11-year-pro, looks forward to helping Quick-Step Floors continue to shine in the big races of the calendar, whilst at the same time guiding the young riders of the team as they learn the trade in the pro peloton.
"I am not one of the youngest guys in the bunch anymore, but I have the benefit of my experience, which is of course something I am looking forward to pass on to the many young and talented riders we have here. Having said that, I also hope to be there in the final hours of the races, supporting our leaders and helping the team to be just as successful as it has been this year, and who knows, I am still strong so if the chances show I will of course go for the victories", Devenyns added.
Patrick Lefevere was satisfied with the 34-year-old's decision to continue until 2019: "Dries is close to drawing the curtain over his sixth season spent with our team, which means that for more than half of his pro career he's been part of this structure, supporting our goals but at the same time producing results in the Classics and stage races. You can see his dedication in every race, he's a loyal rider who doesn't spare himself when it comes to helping the team, and that's why having him on the squad for two more years gives us great pleasure."
