The Colombian moved to second in the points classification ahead of the race's final two stages.
Fernando Gaviria is having a solid week at the Tour of Britain, where the 23-year-old rider of Quick-Step Floors is racing not only for good results in the flat stages, but also to regain his form having with his sights on the World Championships in Bergen, where he is set to lead the powerful nine-man Colombian team which will take on the 276.5km-long race.
The South American prodigy, one of the most successful riders of the season, benefited again on the rain-battered stage 6 of the Tour of Britain (Newmarket – Aldeburgh, 186.9 kilometers) of the strong lead-out train of Quick-Step Floors, made up of Philippe Gilbert, Zdenek Stybar and Maximiliano Richeze, who took the reins in the closing kilometers of the day, once the breakaway was caught, helping Fernando sprint to his 12th top-3 finish of the year.
On stage 7 of the Tour of Britain, the penultimate one, the general classification contenders are expected to come to go on the attack, on a route hilly route between Hemel Hemstead and Cheltenham, which awaits with a total elevation gain of nearly 2400 meters. Cleeve Hill will be the final difficulty on the course and coming inside the final ten kilometers means that is has the potential to break the field.
