Tony Martin finished in 6th at the 164km Stage 3 of Vuelta al Pais Vasco, keeping him within reach of general classification contention for the next days.
Martin went into the stage with no time gap in the GC, and, by finishing just 12" back from race winner Samuel Sanchez (Euskatel-Euskadi), he keeps himself within reach. Sports Director Brian Holm stated before the stage race began that one of the goals is to get Martin to the 18km Stage 6 time trial with the chance of winning the overall. Joaquin Rodriguez Oliver (Katusha Team) took 2nd in the stage, and Chris Horner (Radioshack-Nissan) was third after the three were able to stay away in the final kilometers.
