Keisse and Viviani reduced the gap to the leaders after a consistent night in the Kuipke.
Having lost a lap on the opening evening of the Six Days of Gent, Iljo Keisse and Elia Viviani knew it was paramount to nullify that deficit as soon as possible, and they did it thanks to a strong team effort that got them rewarded at the end of another highly entertaining night which ended up by bringing more pairs into contention for the overall win, making it at the moment a four-horse affair.
Five podiums, including a spectacular victory netted by Olympic Omnium Champion Elia in the second Derny race, where he left all his rivals trailing, helped the Deceuninck – Quick-Step Team retain its second place in the overall standings (thanks to a total tally of 122 points), ahead of the third day, which schedules twelve races in the space of just four hours.
General classification:
1. Robbe Ghys – Kenny de Ketele – 129 points
2. Iljo Keisse – Elia Viviani – 122 points
3. Tosh Van der Sande – Jasper De Buyst – 106 points
