The Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team will try to achieve a much better result than Stage 1 — a stage marred by temperatures ranging between 35 and 40 degrees celsius, wind gusts upwards of 35 km per hour, and a crash within the final km. Tour Down Under Stage 2, a 148 km race from Lobethal to Stirling, starts at 11 a.m. CST on Wednesday.
The race has two sprint point sections and a KOM. Jayco Sprint #1 is at the 23.7 mark of the race, at Main Street in Mount Torrens. Jayco Sprint #2 is at Onkaparinga Valley Rd., at the 62.4 km mark. The Škoda King of the Mountain section for this race is at Fox Creek Road, Lenswood, near Croft Road, at the 46.7 km mark.
Stage 2 ends with a three lap circuit for 64.8 km (begins at the 83.2 km mark).
"it will start all over again for stage 2 of 148km from Lobethal to Stirling, where another sprint finish should be in the cards," Omega Pharma - Quick-Step rider Andy Fenn said.
