The Italian isn’t ready yet to draw the curtain over his great season.

Recently crowned European Champion in the Elimination Race, Elia Viviani will continue his odyssey on the track this fall at the 26th edition of the Six Days of London, which schedules dozens of spectacular races (from the Madison to the team time trial) between 22-27 October in the Lee Valley Velopark.

In the entire history of the prestigious event, there hasn’t been an Italian team to come out on top of the overall classification, just two to finish on the podium, back in the ‘50s, but Elia is confident that together with countryman Simone Consonni he can fight for victory, although the 30-year-old Deceuninck – Quick-Step rider is aware that they will face a stiff competition from the other 15 pairs at the start.

“It’s always fun to race a six-day event. In the past couple of years, I couldn’t find a spot for London in my calendar, but now I’m here for the first time in my career and I hope to have lots of fun out there together with Simone”, Elia said. “I know the velodrome from the 2012 Olympics and 2016 World Championships, and I can’t say I have good memories from these past experiences, but I hope this will change now. Many big names will be there and it’s not going to be easy, but we are confident we can get a good result as we continue our preparation towards Tokyo.”
