Several riders were given a taste of a different kind of speed than they are used to on Thursday, when they were hosted at Circuit Zolder by our partners from BMW Le Couter and Lemmens – Le Couter.
More attuned to travelling on two wheels, a host of Deceuninck – Quick-Step riders, including Kasper Asgreen, Fabio Jakobsen, Yves Lampaert and Zdenek Stybar, took part in an experience day at the Zolder track, where they could enjoy the full power of the BMW M Sport range. The riders were able to experience being a passenger while an experienced instructor showed them what the BMW M2, BMW M4 and BMW M5’s available could really do. They also received lessons in the art of track driving and were given the chance to test their own driving skills on the circuit.
Now coming to the end of their first season working with the team, BMW Le Couter and Lemmens – Le Couter have played a central part in support Deceuninck – Quick-Step’s success in 2019, providing the cars that have supported the Wolfpack. These cars have reliably covered thousands of kilometers, giving the logistical back-up that has helped us once again become UCI World Team Classification winners.
Talking of the event, Stijn Le Couter of BMW said: “It was great to be able to show the guys what some first-class BMW cars can really do. We have been very proud to support the team through a period of unprecedented success and it has been amazing to watch, so it has been an honour to show the riders to a taste of what our cars can do. It has been a long season and it was nice to be able to treat them in this way.”
One of the stars of this year’s Spring Classics campaign, Zdenek Stybar expressed his enthusiasm at the end of this unforgettable day: “It was a truly great experience on the race track! It wasn’t the first time for me, but it was the first time in the rain and I did it like it was a completely new experience. We had a lot of fun and what made it even more special was that I could share it with my teammates. We’re very grateful to BMW Le Couter and Lemmens – Le Couter for this beautiful opportunity!”
