Everyone knows how the Deceuninck – Quick-Step riders came into the sport or what are their most important results to date, but few know what movies and music they enjoy, or where they like to spend their holidays. Here’s your chance to find out all these things.
Favourite movies: Pearl Harbor. It’s at the top of my list, I never get tired of it, just like with Coldplay, which is my favourite band and I could listen to every day. I’ve seen it a couple of times and every time ended up being both entertaining and emotional.
Favourite TV series: Prison Break! I have watched it ten times, and I’m not joking. It’s got incredible action, great characters, a gripping and intelligent plot – all ingredients that make it very addictive. Overall, it’s really awesome!
Favourite holiday destination: Canada is the most beautiful place I have ever visited, it was charming and I enjoyed every single moment spent there. I’d like to return there one day, but I also hope to go to the Maldives.
Best day on the bike: I’d have to say last year’s Giro dell’Appennino, which I won. I arrived at the start after a very strong week at the tough Tour of the Alps, I knew I had a good condition and a solid morale, and this helped me take my first victory in some time. It was a special day, one which meant a lot to me.
Favourite rider: Miguel Indurain. I like riders who excel in the time trial and are capable of defending well in the high mountains, and he was simply the best when it came to this. I’ve always dreamed of becoming a pro rider, since I was just a kid actually, and watching him win so many races that way motivated me a lot.
