The 2019 Velo d’Or recipient is among the many riders who will participate in the races scheduled next week.
Road cycling has hit the pause button for the time being, but the Deceuninck – Quick-Step riders will continue to be in action this month, starting with next Wednesday, when they’ll take part in the Digital Swiss 5, a virtual five-day stage race organised by Velon and Rouvy. Competing on their Tacx trainers, our riders will be divided into three-man teams, with the line-up changing from day to day. This system means there won’t be a general classification, with a winner determined at the end of each of the stages that will be held between 22-26 April.
Each day, one of the team’s riders will have a camera monitoring him, which will give fans watching the races a complete experience, in addition to the power data on display at all times. In total, over a dozen Deceuninck – Quick-Step riders will compete in the Digital Suisse 5, including Julian Alaphilippe, Mattia Cattaneo, Dries Devenyns and Remco Evenepoel.
“I am really looking forward to racing The Digital Swiss 5. It is a new type of race for me, very different to anything I have done before, but I know the set-up will be really good and it is great that we are able to race during this difficult time and have something where we can focus and test our condition. I hope that the fans will enjoy watching what will be some tough days of racing”, said Julian Alaphilippe.
