A strong eight-man team will be on the start line in Rotselaar, this Sunday.

One day before hitting the beautiful Dolomites for an 18-day training camp in Val di Fassa, Deceuninck – Quick-Step will line up for the squad’s first race in almost four months, the Grote Prijs Vermarc Sport, a criterium taking part on a 15.4km course in the municipality of Rotselaar, for a total distance of 164 kilometers.

Tim Declercq, Dries Devenyns – who in February scored the Wolfpack’s 750th win at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race – Dutch Champion Fabio Jakobsen, Iljo Keisse, Florian Sénéchal, Pieter Serry, Stijn Steels and Bert Van Lerberghe will all pin on a number for the inaugural edition of the race organised by our sponsor.

“It’s our first race after the lockdown. Our guys have been looking forward to racing again and it will be nice to do so in the back garden of our sponsor Vermarc. It’s a good occasion for them to get the race rhythm and then travel to Val di Fassa with a good feeling. For us it will be important to get everyone safe and sound to the finish line”, explained sports director Wilfried Peeters. “There are a lot of amateur teams on the start list and this will surely affect the race. Belgian riders are well prepared, both the pros and the amateurs, but it’s hard to tell for anyone now how good they are compared to each other.”
