Francesco Chicchi was the top Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team finisher in a 121km Giro d'Italia Stage 13 on Friday.
Mark Cavendish took the victory in the bunch sprint after his Sky ProCycling leadout train put him in perfect position. Alexander Kristoff (Katusha Team) was 2nd, and Mark Renshaw (Rabobank) was third. Julien Vermote was part of a three rider breakaway attempt in the final kilometers, but the peloton quickly reeled them back in for the sprint finish.
Martijn Keizer (Vacansoleil-DCM) and Francesco Failli (Farnese Vini) escaped early in the race, but were caught with less than 25km to go. Tomorrow, the team looks to the first real mountain stage of the Giro d'Italia. Dario Cataldo is the top ranked GC rider for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team, in 10th place (+1'03").
Michal Golas proudly rode in the Maglia Azzura and gained another point for the mountain classification during the stage.
