Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team was firing on all cylinders in the final kilometers of the 162km race, from Mechelen to Buggenhout, on Wednesday. The entire team worked at the front to pull back an eight rider break, which was eventually reduced to three, and then sat on the front drilling it in the final 7km as they prepared for the bunch sprint.

Unfortunately, the train couldn't maintain its position, and Lotto-Belisol overtook the train with about a kilometer to go. Super sprinter Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) went on to win by a bike throw. Danilo Napolitano (Acqua & Sapone) was second, and Kenny Van Hummel (Vacansoleil-DCM) was third. Andy Fenn was the top finisher for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team, taking 15th.
