Everyone knows how the Deceuninck – Quick-Step riders came into the sport or what are their most important results to date, but few know what movies and music they enjoy, or where they like to spend their holidays. Here’s your chance to find out all these things.
Favourite food: Lasagna made by my mother. She is an excellent cook and her lasagna is just out of this world.
Favourite movies: I like action movies, and “Escape Plan”, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, is at the top of my list. Ok, you could make a case it’s a bit predictable, but at the same time it’s solid, fast-paced and entertaining, a non-stop thrill ride that at the end delivers, which is the most important thing.
Favourite holiday destination: As I’ve never been there, I am dreaming of going one day to Mexico, the Seychelles or the Maldives. Not all three, one would do. They are just stunning, everything around looks so relaxing, so I’m really looking forward to the day I will be there and enjoy their white-sand beaches and turquoise ocean.
Favourite video games: I play a bit of FIFA 2020 with my friends time and again. That’s not to say I’m a football fan, you won’t see me on the stadiums watching the games. I just like FIFA because it’s relaxing and helps you take your mind off things.
Other sports I follow: I’m in love with winter sports. I watch alpine skiing – which I used to be quite good at before picking up cycling – and biathlon, two sports where Germany has always had some phenomenal athletes. I also follow the NBA. During Dirk Nowitski’s spell there, I was a fan of the Dallas Mavericks, but now I do it just for the spectacle and the thrill.
