Iljo Keisse and the peloton brought a touching homage to Wouter Weylandt on Sunday.
Stage 2 of the Corsa Rosa was an emotional one for the cycling community, with the Giro d’Italia riders observing a minute’s silence for Wouter Weylandt at the start in Stupinigi. Ten years have passed since he left this world, and many things have changed since then, but Wouter continues to live in memory.
Iljo Keisse had a special relationship with the always-smiling Belgian – they were best friends, school classmates, and later teammates, sharing many beautiful moments together, on and off the bike – and he continues to remember him fondly, a decade from the loss that left a big hole in the life of so many people.
