We are back in Belgium this weekend for the 51st edition of the Flemish one-day race.
One week after becoming the youngest rider in the last six years to rack up two stage wins at a single edition of the Tour de Wallonie, Fabio Jakobsen will be again in action, this time at Heistse Pijl, the 192.8km race that takes place between Vosselaar and Heist-op-den-Berg, and which our team won on three occasions in the past decade.
One of the MVPs of the Tour de France, where he again put in a tremendous effort helping the team notch up five stage victories and the green jersey, Tim Declercq will race for the first time since concluding the Grande Boucle in Paris, part of a squad that will also include Iljo Keisse, Belgian ITT Champion Yves Lampaert, Florian Sénéchal and Bert Van Lerberghe.
“The course can be split in two: a 90km lap, followed by a 15km circuit that will be covered six times. On paper, a smaller group should fight for the win at the end of the day, but not far from the finish there’s a climb that could change everything, and that’s why you need to be attentive and in a perfect position there. We can be in the mix if it will be a sprint, but we are confident in our chances also if the scenario will be different”, said Deceuninck – Quick-Step sports director Geert Van Bondt.
