Soaking rain, slick cobbles, wind and cold temperatures – the main ingredients of an unforgettable Paris-Roubaix seen once in a generation. Deceuninck – Quick-Step was in the thick of the action at a race that it’s part of our identity, but the gods of the cobbles had a different plan, a string of punctures taking our riders out of contention after the Arenberg.
Caked in mud and completely empty, Yves Lampaert took the team’s best result on the iconic velodrome, sprinting to fifth place from a small group, an impressive result that came after three flat tires which left the Belgian frustrated but also motivated to come back and settle the score at the “Queen of the Classics”.
