During a trip to the USA, Remco Evenepoel and Mattia Catteneo took part in the iconic Belgian Waffle Ride gravel race on Sunday.
As well as elite riders, the race organised in Kansas is ridden by a number of cycling enthusiasts over a number of courses, with our riders tackling the 111km Wafer course, which took in over 1000 meters of elevation. To take on the undulating route, both Remco and Mattia were kitted out with a Specialized S-Work’s Crux, complete with Shimano GRX Di2 groupset and Roval's Terra CLX gravel wheels.
Both riders enjoyed the ride, with Remco completing the course in sixth place overall, with a time of 4h 3minutes, with Mattia coming home a couple of minutes later in eighth position.
Speaking of his experience at the BWR, Remco said: “It was our first experience and a really fun one, which we enjoyed! The course was tough and a good test for any rider, but my bike was set up perfectly and both myself and Mattia really enjoyed it. We would like to say thank you to Specialized for organising everything and giving us a chance to experience this event.”
