Our team will begin its first training camp of the winter this week, as the squad converges in Calpe, on the Costa Blanca.
The Wolfpack will return to its traditional base at the Suitopia Sol y Mar Hotel, as last year’s Covid restrictions made it not possible to visit. It is an area that is extremely popular amongst cyclists, giving a mix of terrain that will suit our climbers, classics riders and sprinters alike, as well as being able to enjoy the kinder climates of Southern Europe.
Speaking of the camp, Deceuninck – Quick-Step head coach Koen Pelgrim said: “The camp is one of the few times of the year that we can get the entire team together, and we really value the bond that brings, although we will of course have to follow the Covid restrictions advised by our medical staff. It is also an opportunity to get in some quality structured training, try out equipment and continue our preparations for the 2022 season – our 20th year in the peloton. The staff at the Suitopia always give us the warmest of welcomes and are exceptional at looking after us throughout the two weeks we will be there, and we can’t thank them enough.”
