Just a fortnight shy of his 37th birthday, the Manxman continued to create sporting history as he powered to an incredible victory at the Corsa Rosa, nine years after his previous success there.
It was one of the most impressive victories of Cav’s career, a mad and spectacular 300m dash to the line that left his opponents fighting for the minor places on the podium as Mark raised his hands in the air for the 16th time at the Giro.
